A game for a large group of children or people, that involves quick reactions and fast running.
1
Quite a few players are needed, so that they sit in a large circle, cross-legged.
2
One player walks around the outside of the circle with a handkerchief or other piece of material.
3
The person says these words as they walk around “I wrote a letter to my love, and on the way I dropped it. One of you has picked it up and put it in your pocket. It’s not you, it’s not you, it’s not you…”
4
When deciding whom to drop the handkerchief behind, the person taps that person on the head and says, “It’s You!”
5
Then they run like mad, with the person who now has the handkerchief chasing them, once around the circle of people and try and get to sit in that person’s vacant place before they are caught.
6
If they are caught, they have to sit in the middle of the circle. If not caught, the new person holding the handkerchief starts to walk around the circle, saying the little chant, and so the game goes on.
