How To Set Up Outlook 2007 For Your Yahoo Email Account?

Here are the steps that will show you how to set up your Outlook 2007 client to work with your Yahoo email account.

The ability to access Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client (such as Outlook) is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service.
If you have not purchased the Yahoo! Mail Plus service, you will be unable to retrieve messages via an email client. To determine whether or not you have purchased this service, please visit the Yahoo My Services page.

To fetch mail from and send mail through a free Yahoo! Mail account in Outlook:
Open up Outlook 2007 and go to Tools \ Account Settings

Enter in all of your yahoo account information **make sure there is no check next to Manually configure server. You do not have to go through these extra steps. Just click on Next.

After Outlook has successfully configured the e-mail server settings you can go ahead and click Finish.

If you are having problems with the automatic setup, you'll need to choose the "Manually Configure Server" option, and then fill in your details as follows:

Here are the important settings:
• Email Address: Your full yahoo address
• Incoming Mail Server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
• Outgoing Mail Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Note: If you have problems with sending email you may have to check with your internet provider, as they often require you to send email through their system.
• User Name: Enter your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
Do not check the box next to "Require logon Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
Now you'll need to click on the More Settings… button, and check the box on the Outgoing Server tab for "My outgoing server requires authentication"
• Email Address: Your full yahoo address
• Incoming Mail Server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
• Outgoing Mail Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Note: If you have problems with sending email you may have to check with your internet provider, as they often require you to send email through their system.
• User Name: Enter your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
Do not check the box next to "Require logon Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
Now you'll need to click on the More Settings… button, and check the box on the Outgoing Server tab for "My outgoing server requires authentication"

Now switch to the Advanced tab, and check the box that says "This server requires an encrypted connection", then change the fields to match these values:
• Incoming Server (POP3): 995
• Check the box for "This server requires an encrypted connection"
• Outgoing Server (SMTP): 465
• Change the type of encrypted connection to Auto to TLS.
If you'd like to keep a copy of your email messages on the Yahoo! Mail server, click the "Advanced" tab. Check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server." If you want to delete your messages from the Yahoo! Mail server after viewing them in Outlook, don't check the box.
Click the Ok button.
Click Test Account Settings... After receiving 'Congratulations! All tests completed successfully', click Close. Click Next, and then click Finish.
