Being away from your kids could be one of the most difficult thing to do. Here are a few tips on how to make long distance parenting easier.

Call your child as often as you can. You don’t have physical connection so make sure you have all the emotional connection you need by keeping constant communication.

Write him letters in your own handwriting. Writing letters in your own handwriting will is more personal than sending emails. Of course you can send emails everyday but tale time to write letters with personal touches especially during special occasions.

Send him pictures as often as you can. Send him pictures as often as possible. Posting pictures on the internet has been made easier these days so there is no reason for you to not send any.

Invite him to have a vacation with you. During school breaks, ask him to live with you for a vacation. This way, he’ll know where and how you live.

Leave him with a trusted person. Entrust him to a person whom you can rely on – your mom, dad, sister. Having a relative to watch your son while you’re away is highly encourages.

Get his school’s contact. Know his teacher and her contact information. This way, monitoring your child’s school performance would be easier.

Spend as much time as possible when you’re together. When you have the chance to be together, spend as much time as you can. Join him in his favorite activities. If he wants to play soccer, take time to play soccer with him.
