We learn to value our parents even more once we have become parents ourselves. Say “thank you” to Mom and Dad through the following tips and ideas.
1
Say it all through a card. Whoever said that you will need to spend a hefty amount of money to make your parents feel that you are sincerely thankful? Jot down everything you want to say in a card. Be very honest. What is it that you like most about them? Are you sorry about something? What are these and why? This is the perfect moment to initiate the parent-daughter heart-to-heart talk.
2
Treat your own kids that way they treated you. Of course you don't need to adapt everything they did to you and your siblings. All you have to do is make them feel that you are willing to go with a few family traditions.
3
Complete the whole family surprise them! Nothing more can make them happier than by seeing all their kids and grand kids gathered altogether in their home. You don't need to spend too much on lavish catering and the like. A simple get-together will do.
4
Initiate the heart to heart talk. If you feel that writing it all down is not your forte, just talk to her and say everything that you wish to say.
5
Always make them feel loved. People tend to become more sensitive as they grow older. Find time to exert extra effort which will make them feel loved.
6
Call them from time to time. If visiting them every week is not possible, a simple regular call is enough to make them feel thought of.
