How To Choose Who Goes First In a Game

If there is no dice around, and the game does not involve a dice anyway, how do you decide who goes first in a game?

Make up a rhyme and say it out loud.

Touch each person when you say each word.

The person you touch on the last word is out.

Repeat the rhyme, as many times as there are people to choose from.

The last person who has not yet been touched is the one who starts first.

If just two or three people, the person who comes up with this idea of choosing who goes first, usually gets to be the one to say the rhyme, and if it’s what they want for themselves, can work out ahead of time how to get themselves to win, so it’s not a very fair method.
