Little children are keen to feed ducks, geese, and swans at the zoo or at a park. Don't frighten away the birds, and be sure to have a great outing!
1
Although it’s exciting for little children to feed animals of any kind, warn them not to be too loud as this may scare off swans from coming close, even if you are feeding them.
2
Have some bread that’s a little stale in a packet with you that you’ve already broken into little bits. Bread that’s a little stale breaks into little bits more easily, and doesn’t squish or go soggy when little hands squash it.
3
Toss the bread into the water, as close as possible to the swans.
4
Try toss the bread just in front of any one particular swan to be able to focus on enjoying watching the swan bob for it, rather than throwing too much at once and not really knowing what to watch because too much is going on.
5
Make sure you have enough bread with you rather than be miserable you didn’t bring enough, even if you bring some fresh bread with, because if you don’t use it, you can eat it yourself.
