Castor oil is a powerful antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and natural antibiotic. Used for centuries to treat animal and insect bites, castor oil has many properties that mimic synthetic antibiotics. Because it effective treats skin disorders, castor oil can speed healing and reduce scars after a bite.
1
Use castor oil as an anti-bacterial shield and to prevent infections, especially if no other first-aid medicine is available. Castor oil packs can be used to treat animal bites that tend to get infected quickly, such as the bites of cats or rodents.
2
Mix lime juice with castor oil to form a thick concoction. If the wound is shallow and there is no blood flowing, massage this blend into the area. This is especially helpful for animal bites that are likely to cause a hematoma around the puncture wound.
3
Use castor oil if you have been bitten by insects, as the oil has properties that help soften the skin and draw out the venom deposited by the bite. In the case of a bee sting, castor oil can be used to remove the stinger from inside the wound.
4
Warm up the castor oil slightly before applying it. This will make it more comfortable and provide pain relief for sore muscles or tendons. If heating the oil is too difficult or too messy, make a castor oil pack.
5
Prepare a castor oil pack by soaking a piece of thick fabric, such as fleece or flannel, in castor oil. Place it on the affected area and wrap it with plastic, such as plastic wrap. Place a heated towel or a water bottle over the pack.
