Sometimes, we get so nervous when we face our doctors and so we end up not being able to ask important questions and clarifications which may affect his diagnosis or our understanding of it. Here are tips to a successful medical check up:
1
Don’t wait for the doctor to ask information. Volunteer to give information. Only you knows about your health history and your symptoms so be vocal about these with your doctor.
2
Don’t be embarrassed to tell your doctor about your personal information. Your doctor needs every bit of information in order to be able to make the right diagnosis.
3
Don’t hold back. Tell your doctor everything.
4
Be ready with supporting evidences – whether it’s a list of your health history or samples of medicines which you have been taking. Readiness always saves up time.
5
In return, feel free to ask as many questions as you can. Doctors may say a number of technical terms which seem difficult to understand. Prompt him until you have clearly understood everything.
6
Write down your questions before you visit your doctor. Remember to list the more important questions first to make sure that they get asked.
7
If you feel nervous about the visit, you can ask someone close to you to come along.

Before you leave the doctor’s office, make sure that you have his contact information. Calls are very important either for questions or for follow-up check up schedules.
